It’s a great month on Utila with the World Cup playing and beautiful weather and diving conditions.  With the time difference from South Africa to Honduras, the games are currently being played at 5.30am, 8am and 12.30pm, which makes it a scuba diving and IDC friendly schedule.  This morning we all got up at 5am to watch the Honduras-Chile game at the dive centre as Frank our Manager had ordered in a new flat screen TV that we have set up on the top deck.  The cafe was also open early and in true Honduran style we had baleadas and coffee as the game kicked off.

It’s also a great month to be having the World Cup as our June PADI Instructor course is represented by 8 candidates of 7 different nationalities.  We have candidates from Germany, Holland, Honduras, England, Denmark, Argentina, USA and a Staff Instructor from South Africa, so the course is a lot of fun, and with such a small personalized group, we can be very flexible with our scheduling to get the games in.   The IDC is going well, and next week we have the exams, and we’re looking for success for all countries and nationalities in this game!

After the World Cup the festivities will continue this Summer on Utila with the Utila Carnival in July and the annual SunJam festival in August.

Happy World Cup to everyone for now!

Warm regards from the sunny Caribbean,

Andy
